summary of position

The Final Assembly Supervisor oversees the day to day activities of the department, coordinates with other departments, and determines the daily work priorities based on the shop load and company priority. Also focuses on continued improvement in all assembly processes, employee training, motivation and resolving problems. The Final Assembly Supervisor orchestrates and controls work rather than performing it directly.

  • Read, understand and enforce safety programs and policies of RAE Corporation. Lead by example by committing to safe work practices, coach and correct unsafe behaviors, correct safety hazards and respond to employee concerns regarding hazards in their work area. Understand company obligations under the OSHA Act and comply with OSHA CFR 1910 regulations.
  • Read, understand and enforce company policies. Communicate company expectations to department employees. Provide feedback to employees regarding company policies as needed and keep supervisor informed of employee policy issues.
  • Report injuries to EHS manager timely. Work with EHS manager in correcting hazards, coordinating time off following work injuries and offer transitional duty to employees with work restrictions.
  • Conduct interviews and assess candidates. Make hire recommendations to management.
  • Manage performance by providing ongoing feedback in the form of coaching to employees, communicating department goals, recognizing and confronting performance issues within the team, and participating in annual performance reviews.
  • Coordinate training programs for new hires and ensuring new employees receive training, resources and feedback needed to become valuable members of the team.
  • Attend leadership and safety training as required.
  • Use a work schedule, and know where his/her department is on the production schedule at all times
  • Be customer focused cooperating with other departments so that RAE Corporation’s customers receive the product & service requested.
  • Project a positive attitude, set a good example for his/her people and keep them productive at all times.
  • Advise maintenance of equipment or building repairs needed.
  • Oversee regular housekeeping of department.
  • Enforce Manufacturing Instruction.
  • Clearly communicate company plans, goals and the importance of each employee’s contributions to obtaining these goals.
  • Give responsibilities and orders to leads.
  • Ensures subordinates get out the assigned amount of production with provided timeframe and maintains quality.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding terminating employees.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding salary increases and promotion.
  • Document behaviors of employees leading to employment action.
  • Makes purchases within specified budgetary limits set by management.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings and instructions and interpret them to people in his/her area.
  • Read and understand bills of material and interpret them to people in his/her area.
  • Reduce scrap, rework, spoilage and cost of customer product problem and document.
  • Report to top management the over-all status of Final Assembly’s staffing and efficiency levels.
  • Use a work schedule, and know where his/her department is on the production schedule at all times.
  • Approves work hours and other payroll issues.
  • Cooperate and work with other departments.
  • Project a positive attitude, set a good example for his/her people and keep them productive at all times.
  • Help facilitate informal resolution of issues in their areas, such as conflicts or disagreements with/between coworkers. Respond to employee needs, problems and overall satisfaction.
  • Ensure manufacturing instructions are followed.
  • Contribute to team effort by working with others and accomplishing related functions as needed.
  • Comply with government regulations, laws, company policies and company procedures.
  • Attend work as required.

Desired qualifications

Education & Experience: A high school level of education is preferred for this position. 10+ years experience preferred.

Skills: Willingness to learn, effective verbal and written communication skills, good listening skills, ability to read and comprehend drawings and written instructions, basic mathematical skills, basic computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.) monitoring/assessing performance of other individuals or organization to make improvements or take corrective action, good people skills in order to work in teams with others in the organization.

Certificates, licenses or training: Supervisor training, OSHA 10 hour certification.

Interaction with others

Reports to Plant Manager. Must be able to accurately receive, understand and follow instructions from supervisor. It is essential that the employee be able to work with all employees of the RAE team and show a spirit of cooperation with others in the organization. To accomplish this teamwork, it is important that the employee be able to get along well with coworkers and be willing to ask and to answer questions as needed.

working environment

Work is performed in an industrial production area for a manufacturer of refrigeration and HVAC equipment. The employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is high in some areas. Exposed to extreme temperatures in both winter and summer. Possible stress caused by the pressure of meeting deadlines and product quality standards. Seasonal variations in hours worked based on production demands.
