Role Overview: The Director of Finance & Accounting is responsible for the overall financial management, reporting, and control environment of the company. This role serves as a trusted business partner to the CFO and operational leaders, driving financial discipline, cost visibility, and strategic decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing finance expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.

  1. Financial Reporting & Accounting
  • Oversee all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and present financial statements, management reports, and KPI dashboards to executive leadership
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Manage the annual external audit process and serve as the primary liaison with auditors
  • Perform variance analysis (purchase price, labor, overhead) and communicate findings to Directors and Senior leadership

  1. Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process across all business units and facilities
  • Develop and maintain rolling financial forecasts and cash flow projections
  • Provide financial modeling and ROI analysis for capital expenditure requests, new business opportunities, and strategic initiatives
  • Track and report on key operational and financial metrics; identify trends and risks proactively

  1. Treasury & Cash Management
  • Optimize working capital — including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory turns
  • Oversee cash flow planning and short-term liquidity management
  1. Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control environment
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies and procedures across all entities
  1. Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a finance and accounting team at two primary businesses and future businesses
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide support as necessary, and build bench strength within the department
  • Champion process improvement and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  1. Strategic Partnership
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CFO and Directors on financial performance, risk, and strategy
  • Support M&A due diligence and integration activities as opportunities arise
  • Represent the finance function in cross-functional initiatives and leadership meetings

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA certification
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience at a company with $100M–$500M in annual revenue
  • Proficiency with a major ERP system (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar)
  • Strong command of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams

Preferred

  • MBA or other advanced degree
  • Public accounting background (Big 4 or regional CPA firm)
  • Experience supporting M&A transactions
  • Multi-site or multi-entity consolidation experience
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement (CI) environments

Interaction with Others: Reports to the CFO. Works closely with internal departments, as well as cross-functional partners. This role requires clear communication, collaboration, and professionalism when interacting with internal stakeholders and auditors.

Working Environment: Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled office setting, with occasional exposure to manufacturing areas and outdoor environments when coordinating events or maintaining exterior office areas. The noise level is typically quiet to moderate.
