What is a Production Planner?

The Production Planner is responsible for developing and managing production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations and on-time delivery of products. This role works closely with Materials, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Production teams to align demand with capacity. The position plays a critical role in optimizing workflow, minimizing disruptions, and ensuring balanced production planning.

What You Can Expect to Do as a Production Planner:

  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on demand, capacity, and inventory levels
  • Coordinate with Materials, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to align production plans
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed
  • Analyze demand forecasts and production requirements
  • Identify potential bottlenecks and proactively resolve scheduling conflicts
  • Maintain accurate data within ERP and planning systems
  • Communicate production plans and changes to relevant stakeholders
  • Support inventory management and ensure appropriate stock levels
  • Track key performance metrics related to scheduling and production efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning and scheduling processes

What We Are Looking For in a Production Planner:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred
  • 2–5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain roles
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred
  • Strong understanding of production planning and inventory concepts
  • Experience with ERP systems and planning tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and coordination skills
