Responsibilities

As Assistant Director of Engineering, I will carry out the following tasks relevant to this role:

• Assist the Director of Engineering in managing the daily operations of the department, ensuring that all facilities, systems, and equipment operate efficiently.
• Supervise and support the engineering team in maintenance tasks, repairs, and technical projects, ensuring high standards of performance and safety.
• Coordinate and oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maintain optimal guest comfort.
• Support the preparation of the property for seasonal openings and closures, including inspections, equipment maintenance, and system checks.
• Assist in budget planning and control, as well as managing inventory of tools, materials, and spare parts.
• Ensure compliance with hotel safety procedures, fire regulations, and environmental standards; collaborate in audits and periodic training sessions.
• Contribute to the implementation of energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs.
• Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers for maintenance services and technical support.
• Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance requests and guest service needs.
• Collaborate on renovation and improvement projects, ensuring quality, adherence to timelines, and compliance with standards.
• Prepare maintenance logs, reports, and documentation as required by the Director of Engineering.

By staying up to date with industry trends and best practices, and continuously enhancing my knowledge and skills to improve the product and service offering, I will focus on constantly optimizing maintenance and engineering practices, ensuring that facilities remain in optimal condition and aligned with Six Senses Ibiza’s wellbeing and sustainability standards.

Qualification

To perform the role of Assistant Director of Engineering, I possess the required qualifications, technical skills, and experience in a similar or more senior role, including:

• Degree in Engineering or Technical Industrial Engineering, specialized in Electricity, with solid theoretical and practical training in electrical installations for tertiary buildings, particularly hotels and hospitals.
• Proven experience in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical and control systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency in complex hospitality environments.
• Strong knowledge of medium-voltage (MV) supplies, customer substations, transformer centers, switching and isolation cells, and grounding systems.
• Comprehensive experience in low-voltage (LV) infrastructures, including main distribution boards (MDB), monitoring systems, secondary panels, automation, and control platforms such as BMS and GRMS, audiovisual systems, fire detection and alarm systems, telecommunications, CCTV, backup generators, UPS systems, lightning protection systems, photovoltaic installations, and electric vehicle charging points.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of regulations, particularly RITE, Legionella, potable water, and swimming pool regulations.
• Knowledge of electrical regulatory frameworks and applicable legislation.
• Experience managing maintenance contracts and periodic inspections (OCA).
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
• Fluent Spanish; English is a plus.
• Valid European Union work permit required.
