Employees at this level will be responsible for the following: including but not limited to:• Supervise employees assigned to the crew.
• Assist to coordinate work with other GRDA departments, customers, and utilities.
• Ensure crews receive appropriate safety and technical training.
• Ensure proper inspection, testing, and maintenance procedures are performed across the system. Perform maintenance on equipment needing PMs & CMs as assigned through GRDA’s Asset Management System.
• Supervises and manages new construction projects as assigned by the Engineering department or T&D Operations in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner.
• Responsible for recording and submitting daily time records.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of the principles of effective supervision.
• Ability to understand and implement troubleshooting techniques and repair the various types of equipment associated with a high-voltage Substations.
• Must know advanced principles of assigned craft i.e. installing, removing and maintaining high voltage transformers, breakers, switches, MOD devices, PTs, and CTs. Must have a working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical operating systems. Must be able to operate electrical Substation specific maintenance and testing equipment. Must be able to use the tools and materials used in the performance of high voltage electrical substation operations.
• Must be able to supervise safe operation of aerial equipment above but not limited to 45 feet in areas of high bays, Must have the ability to comprehend complex Drawings, Schematics and Instruction on substation equipment.
• Must have advanced knowledge of safe crane operations and the ability to read load charts.
• Assemble, install and adjust switching gear for transmission and distribution of high voltage
• Must have advanced knowledge of lock out tag out procedures.
• Must be able to schedule outages on iTOA program.
• Must have advanced knowledge of power factor, transformer turns ratio, winding resistance, SFRA, excitation, DC high potential, SF6 gas and dissolved gas analysis testing within substations.
• Must be able to supervise and plan the safe installation of mobile substations.
• Be able to supervise and plan erecting steel support structures for high voltage electrical equipment.
• Must be able to plan and supervise the safe operation and installation of oil processing units on high voltage breakers and transformers.
• Organizational and Communicative skills
• Knowledge of Safety rules and procedures associated with high voltage electrical facilities.
• Certified Switchman and Clearance holder.
• Computer skills – able to use Microsoft programs, including “WORD” and “EXCEL”.
• Must have knowledge or the ability to learn Maximo Asset Management program within one year of assignment.
Education and Experience
• Must have passed a certified Substation Apprentice program and been promoted to a Substation Technician Journeyman or Journeyman in related field.
• OSHA 10 and the ability to obtain OSHA 30 within one year of assignment
• Minimum of 5 years in the field experience or demonstrate the knowledge needed to perform the duties.
Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
