Plant Utility (Entry-Level)Position SummaryThe Plant Utility position is an entry-level role designed to introduce employees to the fundamental job duties of each department within the facility. This position provides hands-on training across production, packaging, material handling, quality control, and plant housekeeping functions in order to determine where the employee may best fit long-term within the organization.The Plant Utility contributes to the safe manufacturing of ceramic fiber blanket products through forming, finishing, packaging, equipment operation, and facility support. This role supports production teams while maintaining safety, quality, and housekeeping standards throughout the plant.Key ResponsibilitiesCross-Department Training & Support
- Rotate through various departments to learn essential job functions
- Assist production teams with forming, finishing, and packaging operations
- Support plant housekeeping, organization, and facility upkeep
- Attend tier meetings and participate in safety discussions
- Learn and initiate emergency procedures when necessary
- Operate ceramic fiber production equipment, including fiberizing, forming, needling, and cutting systems (as trained)
- Set up and operate machinery to support manufacturing processes
- Monitor process parameters such as temperature, density, thickness, and weight
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment performance issues
- Audit and observe manufacturing processes to ensure products meet specifications
- Conduct in-process quality checks and maintain accurate production records
- Understand manufacturing tolerances and ensure finished products meet customer specifications
- Handle raw materials and finished goods in accordance with safety procedures
- Deliver materials to production lines and move finished goods to storage or trailers
- Properly package, label, palletize, shrink-wrap, and load finished product
- Operate baler equipment as required
- Keep pallets and packaging materials stocked
- Maintain accurate logs and records
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of plant building, equipment, and grounds
- Empty trash bins and clean work areas as required
- Promote and demonstrate a strong safety culture
- Ability to pass an aptitude test and basic math/understanding assessment
- Entry-level position; manufacturing experience helpful but not required
- Mechanical aptitude preferred
- Ability to receive forklift training
- Understanding of basic OSHA/safety standards
- Must be able to follow emergency procedures
- Must wear all required PPE, including respirators
