Job Description – Computer Aided Design Drafter JOB TITLE: Computer Aided Design Drafter ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned. • Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs, create production drawings (detailed multi-view and assembly drawings). • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings. • Revises and updates existing drawings reflecting design changes to ensure consistent documentation. • Creates documentation for determining shipping requirements for product deliveries (load drawings). • Creates and maintains programs and documentation for CNC production equipment. • Processes and verifies Work Orders, accurately completing work tasks according to schedule and changing priorities. • Establish filing guidelines for drawings to maintain up-to-date drawings and an accurate CAD database. • Creates and maintains records, design calculations and other documentation (e.g. Bill of Materials, model weight, raw stock requirements, design parameters, and costing) for future reference. • Liaises with customer and production personnel to clarify requirements and resolve issues with any design/drawing. • Assists in product improvement efforts, quality checks, and educating team. • Assists in creating and maintaining marketing material. • Travel, shift work, and overtime may be required to accomplish some of the above tasks. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE (Minimum Requirements): • Associate's degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field plus 2 years practical experience utilizing relevant CAD system in a production environment. • 5 years practical design/drafting experience in a similar environment will be considered equivalent. SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel). • Epicor experience preferred. • Experience using AutoCAD 2D design software in a production environment is required. • Experience using Nest software a plus. EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: • PC’s, PC hardware, and basic office equipment. LANGUAGE SKILLS: • Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications. • Able to read and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. • Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. • Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. • Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS: • Valid Driver’s License, where applicable.
